The purpose of the Child Care Development Fund (CCDF) is to increase the availability, affordability and quality of child care services for low-income families who are working or attending an approved educational component and working a minimum of 25 hours per week.
Eligibility
The CCDF Child Care Program targets children of parents receiving TANF benefits; parents transitioning off TANF (Transitional Child Care); and parents whose income is at or below the State Median Income (SMI) who are at risk of going on TANF in the following order:
- Children in Protective Service or Foster Care
- Children with Special Needs
- Children of Parents Deployed in the Military
- Children of Teen Parents Enrolled in School Full-Time
- Children of Parents Working at Least 25 Hours Per Week and Below the 50% of the State Median Income Level
- Children of Parents Working at Least 25 Hours Per Week and Above the 50% Median Income but Below the 85% State Median Income
- Children of Parents Working Less than 25 Hours Per Week and Enrolled Full-Time in School
- Children of Parents Not Working and Enrolled Full-Time in School
Secondary Priorities
Based upon funding, secondary priority is given to children of parents working or in an approved educational or training program whose income falls above the 50th percentile of the SMI and below the 85th percentile of the SMI; children of parents in an approved full-time educational or training program working less than 25 hours per week, and children of parents in an approved full-time educational or training program and not working.
Counties Served
South Delta Planning & Development District provides Child Care services to eligible participants in Bolivar, Humphreys, Sunflower, Sharkey, Issaquena and Washington Counties.
Funding
Approximately $10,132,073 has been committed for child care services for these counties.
Current Service Level
We currently have 6,035 children on the CCDF Child Care Program.
